Your donator pack structure.
« on: July 09, 2009, 06:40:16 AM »
Now that anyone can set up a donator pack with any items inside with ease(link), I'd like to see which structure for donations is most popular. The customary structure for MCCode/MCCodes games is the simple $3/$5/$10/Etc donator pack structure, is yours different?

The structure I used on my old game(Criminal Impulse) was a bit more simple. My users were able to buy donator packs for $5 each, able to buy up to a maximum of 50 at a time(to prevent chargebacks, I did have 2-3 people who bought 50 at a time). Later on I introduced "Special" packs, which included some awesome items you could only get if you donated, but the packs costed $20 and had limited availability. Each was able to be sold 10 times, and then another random "Special" pack would be selected to be put up for 10 sales(the script did this automatically).

Does anyone do anything differently?

I have lots of different donator packs.
Small starter pack so people can see the extra benefits you get.
Then I have a couple of packs aimed at the trainers of the game
And another couple aimed at the people who want to make money
And then some large ones which is like donating for a year

Do you sell any items individually?
I know that is popular in most real mmorpg's(such as Tantra) they sell real items/upgraded magic to rake in donations.

Not right now,
I do have some special items which go with other items so I sell a few of them together.
I need some more different items I can sell as donator items.
One of the things I like most about donating to a game is having something that others can't get and selling it lol

I would suggest making an item SPECIFICALLY to sell to donators.
If you have the workshop mod, you could make them need this item to create an assortment of other items.

This may sound childish but this is the best way I can compare.
If you ever played pokemon long ago, you receive some sort of item that evolves your pokemon(eevee I believe?), you could then choose one of 3 elements(water/fire/electric) they could evolve into.

If you used anything approximately the same, users might actually buy more than one of the item, to create another item in the workshop. Hopefully I explained this clear enough.
